Abstract:
Learning processes are supported by e-learning platforms like Moodle or Blackboard and social software like weblogs, wikis, discussion boards or chats. These applications collect and store access data and activity data of all participants. This data is available for further analysis. With different methods like user profiling, user tracking or text mining this data can be analysed and for instance used for the assessment of the learners or participation in a course. In doing so, privacy and the protection of personal data can be infringed. This paper deals with the analysis of user log-files in e-learning platforms and the arising problems.
