Baerj-1:   A mountain innkeeper promises a bearskin to a fur trader. The bear has not been killed yet, so they both depart to catch the bear. The fur trader climbs a tree when they come near the animal. The innkeeper defends himself with a spear, but is wounded and only able to save himself by pretending to be dead and holding his breath whenever the bear checks to see if he is alive. When the animal retreats, the fur trader asks the innkeeper what the animal whispered in his ear. The mocking answer is that the bear advised him never to sell a fur when the animal who wears it is still alive. Epimythion: Stupid is he who promises something he does not own or takes something into possession without right.
