Die halbe Decke BC (>1300)
Rosenfeld, H.F.: Zum Kotzenmäre. Beiträge 54 (1930). p. 378–390

HalDBC-1:   After his wife’s death, a rich and generous knight gives his belongings to his son. The son has a nice chamber prepared for him, but forgets about his father after a while. When his wife gives birth, he allows her to move the old man out of the chamber and put him in a small room. Later, the wife puts him under the stairs, and at last into a far stable, where the compassionate housekeeper cares for him clandestinely.

HalDBC-240:   When the grandson comes to the stable, the grandfather asks for the half of a used horse blanket. The father wants to give the whole blanket, but the child wants to keep the other half to give it to his father in old age. The father is in dismay and has the nice chamber prepared again for the father. He cares for him properly until his death. Epimythion: Be modest with presents for your children. He who gives them everything will get to know the blanket.
