HdTRH-1:   The wife of a Bavarian knight wants to wear precious clothes like those of her lady, the duchess. When the lady orders a 100 pound dress for a feast, the knight’s wife nags him for a similar dress. The knight promises it. He has a horse, which he bought for hundred pounds, killed and forces his wife to go to church in the horse’s skin to be punished for her vanity. The duke has mercy on them. He gives a new horse to the knight, and a dress like the duchess’s to the knight’s wife. Epimythion: Women should not be vain and should not push forward in church.
