HeroLe-1:   Promythion: Love gives a bitter end after a sweet beginning. Two children of noble birth, Hero and Leander, love each other dearly but are separated by a sea channel. There is no other way to come to his beloved than to cross the channel. Hero puts a light out for him. When heavy sea prevents him from coming, she writes a yearning letter which a fisher delivers. Leander answers that he will come the following night at all costs. When he takes out to the stormy sea he is not able to see Hero’s lamp and drowns. Next morning his corpse floats on the water. When Hero learns of her lover’s death she falls down dead. Epimythion: The poet compares this great love with his love for his lady.
