Johannes von Freiberg: Das Rädlein (>1250)
von der Hagen, H.H.: Gesammtabenteuer. Hundert altdeutsche Erzählungen, 3 vols. Stuttgart/Tübingen 1850. Reprint Darmstadt 1961. Vol 3, Nr. 58, p. 111–124

JvFRa-116:   Promythion: The poet, Johannes von Freiberg, stands proof for the following story. A young scribe falls in love with a maid, woos her, but is rejected. When the girl falls asleep after a hard day working on the fireplace bench, he wants to con her, to punish her by cunning. With soot, he paints a little wheel on her body and pretends that he has made love to her. The wheel is the proof.

JvFRa-317:   When she finds the sign, she wants to know how he managed to take her virginity so unawares. He promises to show her the following night. To avoid the noise of creaking floorboards, she carries the scribe into her room. She enjoys the lovemaking so much that she inspires her lover again and again and doesn’t want him to leave in the morning. Epimythion: They, who struggle the hardest in the beginning are defeated the fastest.
