Promythion: Comparison of love and tournament. A young count who studies in Paris hears of a beautiful girl who is kept in a tower by her father. When he sees her at the window, they fall in love with each other. To be near her, the count rents a room on other side of the street, and they have meetings, but only at a distance.

The girl’s maid advises her to beg her father to give her a year’s supply of silk thread. She makes a rope and pulls up the count. In his love happiness, he dies in her arms. At first she thinks he has fainted, but when she realizes that he has died, she wails.

SchPB-268:
On the third day, she has to part with the beloved dead. The maid sews him into a precious cloth and carries him to another house. There the corpse of the count is found, and people think that he has been killed. The father allows the daughter to attend the funeral. In the church, she gives her wreath, and begs them to open the coffin. She throws herself on the count’s body and dies. They bury the lovers in their death embrace and in one coffin. Epimythion: Prayer to be received into heaven.
