Promythion: No one is able to defend himself against a woman’s cunning. Ruprecht, the English king’s brother, studies in Paris. One evening he sees a lady on the street and is fascinated by her beauty. He learns that the lady’s name is Schampiflor, and that she is the wife of the handsome and rich Bilamor. Ruprecht engages an old matchmaker to gain the favors of Schampiflor.

Schafl-245:
The old woman visits Schampiflor and tells her that the prince Ruprecht is in love with her, and that he asks for her love and presents his gifts. The lady rejects the proposal, but yields after the second and third visit of the matchmaker, due to a promise of precious gifts. She agrees to a rendezvous at the matchmaker’s place.

Schafl-400:
When Schampiflor arrives, the old woman fetches Ruprecht, but he is unavailable. In her desperation, the old woman speaks to a handsome young man in the street and invites him to a love adventure. To her bad luck, it’s Bilamor. But Schampiflor knows what to do: she runs to her husband, beats him, and rebukes him for his unfaithfulness. Finally, he promises her precious gifts and she agrees to make peace. Ruprecht has spent his money for nothing.
