A young inexperienced girl is advised at her wedding night by her mother to do everything her husband asks with good will. Later in the wedding bed she wants to know what her husband is doing to her and he answers is to despise the devil; the kissing he calls minne.

He asks her what she prefers and she answers if it is not possible to have both one should look after his soul’s salvation and despise the devil. In spite of her sins she demands the “devil’s despise” again and again. The next day at the meal she tells to her husband’s embarrassment that they despised the devil three times. When the young girl wants to talk about her pious deeds the men are sent out and she praises the despising of the devil in the women’s presence which she considers being much better than pilgrimage to Rome or to the Holy Land. She never wants to be punished for sins otherwise. When a messenger calls the women to the church she claims to stay home with her husband and despise the devil.
