Wirt-1:   Two excellent knights and one page skilled in the magic arts agree at a May dancing to share everything that they earn there. The page notices the beautiful wife of an innkeeper. He succeeds in his seduction and is invited in because her husband is out. The two knights come too, and the woman has three lovers without her knowing.

Wirt-370:   Soon they visit the innkeeper and order wine. While he goes to the cellar, they make a bet with the wife. He who has the best idea for making love to the wife before the very eyes of her husband is the winner and need not pay the bill. The page starts. He climbs to the roof and looks into a little window. He reproaches the innkeeper for his shameless behavior in making love to his wife in public. When the innkeeper rebukes him, he says it must be the influence of the planets which causes this illusion. The innkeeper decides to see for himself. While the innkeeper watches, the page makes love to the wife.

Wirt-455:   Now it’s the knights’ turn. He boasts of his physical strength and as proof, lifts the wife to the roof and makes love to her. The other knight wants to show his power too. He tells the couple to lie down on a bench, and while he is pretending to lift up the bench, he makes love to the wife. Epimythion: A courteous man is not so easily betrayed. A woman should avoid the public. Who has won the bet?
