ZwMN-1:   One day a young monk, who has lived in the monastery since he was seven years old, reads in a book about love’s bond and asks an experienced abbot what this is about. The monk tells him about the joys of love and advises him to ask for a vacation to visit his relatives. He agrees, and the two of them take some travel money and set out. The experienced monk brings them into the house of a lady whose husband is on a journey. He pays the hostess to entertain the young monk for one night.

ZwMN-265:   After this experience, he goes back to his monastery. He asks the experienced monk, “Who has to bear the children of love?” The experienced monk answers, “The person who is lying on their back.” As this had been the young monk, he thinks he is pregnant. He goes to a young peasant who has made a cow give birth by beating it and gets the peasant to beat him up too. Just at the moment when the third stick is broken, a rabbit hops away. The fool thinks that it’s his child and tries in vain to catch it.

ZwMN-480:   An old monk finds the young monk wailing and roaming, and decides he is insane. He brings him back to the monastery by force and exorcises him. When the exorcism shows no effect, the man is imprisoned until he confesses everything to the abbot and is set free.
